Question: How should I position Huey for optimum performance?

Answer: Position your Huey so the vortex beam of air does not blow directly on any objects.

Question: How large of a nursery can I humidify with Huey?

Answer: Huey can effectively humidify nurseries up to 180 square feet, which is roughly a 13’x14’ room.

Question: I have Huey turned on, but I don’t see any moisture coming out of the top, is my unit working?

Answer: If you have adequate amount of water in the tank, mostly like your unit is working fine. Since Huey uses the evaporative method to humidify air, you will not see moisture coming from the unit like you would other humidifiers.

Question: How can I tell how much humidity Huey is producing?

Answer: The best way is to use a hygrometer, an instrument that measures the humidity level in a given area. A simple hygrometer can be purchased at most hardware stores for around $3 to $4. Another, albeit less accurate, way of judging the humidity level is to check to see if your windows are fogging with condensation. If so, humidity levels may be excessively high.

Question: Is it okay to run the Huey 24 hours a day?

Answer: Yes, Huey is designed to run continuously. In fact, continuous operation is not only healthier for your baby’s environment, it is better for the humidifier. Allowing the unit to continue running after the water supply runs out allows the wicks to dry out, reducing the chance for mold or mildew grow.  Keep in mind, continuous operation requires that the bottles be filled every 12 – 16 hours.

Question: How does Huey’s control lock feature work?

Answer: Huey features a child-resistant control lock feature, keeping the humidifer in parents’ desired setting. To engage this feature press and hold the Control Lock button for 3 seconds. The Control Lock icon will blink 3 times rapidly to show it is locked. Once engaged, the Control Lock icon will blink 3 times if any button is pressed when the feature is active. To turn off this feature press and hold the Control Lock button for 3 seconds.

Question: How often do I need to replace the wick filter?

Answer: It is recommended that you replace your wick filter after approximately 1,000 hours, depending on use. The word Wick will illuminate when it is time to replace the wick. Replace the wick filter using only a genuine Vornadobaby brand filter.

Question: The filter wicks on my humidifier are getting discolored, hard and crusty at the top. Is this normal?

Answer: Yes, it's normal.  As the filter wicks evaporate water, minerals and other impurities are left behind. Unfortunately, that mineral build-up also makes your wicks less efficient at evaporating water. If your filters still appear to be absorbing at least halfway up from the bottom, you can clean them. If they are no longer absorbing and there is no humidification action from your humidifier, it's time to replace the wicks. Replacement wicks can be ordered from our website.

Question: Can I clean the filter wick? If so, how?

Answer: Yes, you can clean the wick in an effort to extend their useful life or in an attempt to remove an odor. However, remember that the wick is a repository of impurities, many of which you will never fully remove. Having a disposable wick is a convenience because you can simply throw it away once it becomes encrusted. Think of it this way...would you rather throw away a disposable diaper or clean a cloth one? Additionally, cleaning the wick more than once or twice may end up destroying it as the cellulose will eventually break down. To clean the filter wicks place them in a pan or sink with just enough cool water to cover them. Mix in 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and allow the wick to soak, gently pressing the wick with your fingertips occasionally to help force the material out of the wick. After 20 to 30 minutes, remove the wick and rinse it under cool tap water — DO NOT WRING OR TWIST. Finally, replace the wick in the humidifier.

Question: How do I transport Huey?

Answer: Because Huey is made up of several removable parts, you should always lift Huey from the bottom.

Question: Is Huey’s grill removable?

Answer: Yes, Huey’s grill is removable. First power off and unplug Huey. Then, using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screw located at the 3 o’clock position inside the grill. Then, twist counterclockwise to unlock and lift upward.

Question: Do I need to lubricate the motor?

Answer: No, the motor is permanently lubricated and requires no oiling.

Question: My Huey is broken, can I order parts to fix it?

Answer: Your Huey has no serviceable parts. Do not disassemble Huey, this will void your 5-year warranty. If service is required, return Huey to Vornadobaby (see Happy Parent Guarantee for more information).

Question: How large of a nursery can I purify with Purio?

Answer: Purio can effectively purify nurseries up to 125 square feet, which is roughly a 10’x12’ room.

Question: What is True HEPA? What makes it so special?

Answer: HEPA stands for “High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor.” True HEPA refers to a high-efficiency class of HEPA filter media rated 99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns.

Question: What does 99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns mean?

Answer: It means that 99.97% of the particles (as small as 0.3 microns) that enter Purio’s True HEPA filter will be caught and removed from the air. Particles that are smaller than 0.3 microns often attach to larger particles making them easy to capture or they attach themselves to the fibers of the HEPA media. To envision the size, line up 100,000 particles 0.3 micron in size end-to-end and it will equal one inch. For comparison, a typical human hair crosscut is about 70 microns.

Question: How should I position Purio for optimum performance?

Answer: Position your Purio so the air is directed across the room, unobstructed.

Question: How does Purio’s control lock feature work?

Answer: Purio features a child-resistant control lock feature, keeping the air purifier in parents’ desired setting.

Question: How often do I need to replace the filters?

Answer: It is recommended that you replace your Activated Carbon Filter after 4,000 hours and True HEPA Filter after 9,000 hours of runtime, depending on use. Purio will remind you when a filter replacement is needed. Replace the filters using only genuine Vornadobaby brand filters.

Question: Can I vacuum or wash the filters?

Answer: On the Permanent Pre-Filter can be cleaned with a vacuum or rinsed. It is not advised to vacuum or wash the Activated Carbon or True HEPA Filter. Vacuuming the Activated Carbon Filter can remove the carbon from the material and reduce the odor adsorption effectiveness. The True HEPA Filter is delicate (In fact, when changing the HEPA filter, you should avoid touching the pleated filter material. Just hold the filter by the frame.) Vacuuming can break the fibers inside and reduce its effectiveness by creating holes in the filter.

Question: Is Purio’s grill removable?

Answer: No, Purio’s grill is not removable. If you would like to clean the grill, first power Purio off and unplug. Then use the brush attachment on your household vacuum cleaner to vacuum any accumulated dust on the unit or wide down the entire surface with a soft cloth. Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents or other chemical for cleaning.

Question: Do I need to lubricate the motor?

Answer: No, the motor is permanently lubricated and requires no oiling.

Question: My Purio is broken, can I order parts to fix it?

Answer: Your Purio has no serviceable parts. Do not disassemble Purio, this will void your 5-year warranty. If service is required, return Purio to Vornadobaby (see Happy Parent Guarantee for more information).
